Uncertainties in the Prediction of the Relic Density of Supersymmetric Dark Matter
نویسنده
چکیده
One of the very attractive features of the minimal supersymmetric standard model is that it provides a natural candidate for cold dark matter. Cosmology, and in particular the measurement of the relic density of dark matter then put some strong constraints on the supersymmetric model. For example, WMAP [1] which at 2σ constrains the relic density in the range .094 < Ωh < .129 points to very specific scenarios [2]. Within the context of mSUGRA models, the favoured scenarios are slepton coannihilation, heavy Higgs annihilation and Higgsino LSP. The latter occurs in the focus point region with heavy scalars. Predictions for the relic density depend sensitively on the details of the supersymmetric models but also on some assumptions on the cosmological model. Assuming the LHC will discover supersymmetry, the question then is whether one can make precise predictions on the value of the relic density of dark matter, hence confront the cosmological model.

Requirements on collider data to match the precision of WMAP on supersymmetric dark matter
If future colliders discover supersymmetric particles and probe their properties, one could predict the dark matter density of the Universe and would constrain cosmology with the help of precision data provided by WMAP and PLANCK. We investigate how well the relic density can be predicted in minimal supergravity (mSUGRA), with and without the assumption of mSUGRA when analysing data. We determi...
متن کاملInverse Decays and the Relic Density of the Sterile Sneutrino
We consider a weak scale supersymmetric seesaw model where the Higgsino is the next-to-lightest supersymmetric particle and the righthanded sneutrino is the dark matter candidate. It is shown that, in this model, inverse decays, which had been previously neglected, may suppress the sneutrino relic density by several orders of magnitude. After including such processes and numerically solving the...

Recent cosmological data allow to determine the universal Dark Matter (DM) density to a precision of about 10%, if a simple, well–motivated ansatz for the spectrum of primordial density perturbations is correct. Not surprisingly, a thermal neutralinõ χ 0 1 will have the correct relic density only in " small " regions of parameter space. In particular, for fixed values of the other parameters, t...
متن کاملIntermediate Scale Supersymmetric Inflation , Matter and Dark Energy
We consider supersymmetric inflation models in which inflation occurs at an intermediate scale and which provide a solution to the µ problem and the strong CP problem. Such models are particularly attractive since inflation, baryogenesis and the relic abundance of cold dark matter are all related by a set of parameters which also affect particle physics collider phenomena, neutrino masses and t...
متن کاملJ un 2 00 9 SUSY Constraints , Relic Density , and Very Early Universe
The sensitivity of the lightest supersymmetric particle relic density calculation to different cosmological scenarios is discussed. In particular, we show that a modification of the expansion rate or of the entropy content of the Universe before Big-Bang nucleosynthesis can completely modify the relic density constraints on the SUSY parameter space, and we propose a general parametrization to s...
